Bitchology

This monday mood-lifter just came along.....

=============

When I stand up for
myself and my beliefs,
they call me a
bitch.

When I stand up for
those I love,
they call me a
bitch.

When I speak my mind, think my own thoughts
or do things my own way, they call me a
bitch.

Being a bitch
means I won't
compromise what's in my heart.
It means I live my life MY way.
It means I won't allow anyone to step on me.

When I refuse to tolerate injustice and
speak against it, I am
defined as a bitch.

The same thing happens when I take time for
myself instead of being everyone's maid, or when I act a little selfish.

It means I have the courage and strength to allow myself to be who I truly am and won't become anyone else's idea of what they think I "should" be.
I am outspoken,
opinionated and determined. I want what I want and there is nothing wrong with that!

So try to stomp on me,
try to douse my inner flame,

try to squash every ounce of beauty I hold within me.
You won't succeed.

And if that makes me a bitch ,
so be it.
I embrace the title and
am proud to bear it.

B - Babe
I - In
T - Total
C - Control of
H - Herself

B = Beautiful
I = Intelligent
T = Talented
C = Charming
H = Hell of a Woman

B = Beautiful
I = Individual
T = That
C = Can
H = Handle anything

Send this to 5 women to put a smile on their face!!

A "tail" to tell

Since Ram Navmi ( 24rth) was off for me from work, I was home all day with Ranbeer. In the evening, I asked Megha to accompany me to the park behind our house with Ranbeer. I took the camera along, so I could take pictures of Ranbeer playing in the grass in good light. And boy, I am glad I took it with me… After about 40 minutes of ranbeer running in the park after other childrens’s bat and balls ( leaving his own), him pointing out the park lights and passing aero planes to me, and enjoying the swings with Megha and me, we decided it was enough and headed home. I was stopped by a ghoda-gari (horse cart) just outside the park. Ranbeer was amused and started making silly tuk-tuk sounds ( like we teach him at home!) The horse cart guy coaxed us into getting a ride (all 3 of us) and I really went along so that I could get Ranbeer’s reaction on the camera. This guy took us around the M and S block of GK 2 and Ranbeer was quiet excited all along. He wasn’t scared a bit and it was fun for Megha and me too…

The party in Navratras and oh yes, the karaoke !

I should have mentioned before, but missed writing about this at all ( should it be that parties where one doesnt "drink" dont get metioned?? No way ! )
Ankur, my best-est bumchum from school days decided to celebrate her 31st birthday ( oops, didnt take her permission to quote the age !) in a grand, no-nonveg, no-alcoholic way, bang in the middle of Navratras.. Manish told me that he would definitely go, because he wanted to try out this "format" of a party....
So we trooped to Ankur-Punit's house in Vasant Kunj, with Chota Chowdhary in tow...
They had called about 20-25 guests including children of all shapes and sizes....
A caterer who was entrusted the responsibility of dishing out innovative veg snacks, was hired, who i must say did a great job!
The highlight of the evening was a sound and light show ( more sound, less light ). Nikhil, our multi-talented, under- appreciated friend, plays the guitar and the drums, and therefore, both were available. Punit's friend Brij also plays the drums with passion, and the drumset was his own. Adding to the excitement was the Karaoke system, which everyone tried, including yours truly.
While the pictures below would sum it all, special mention for child prodigy ( or thats how i would like to believe) Chota Chwodhary, was having baby orgasms, just watching and itching to play the big drums, that he was stuck to Brij and his drum set for the entire evening...
Too bad i couldnt get more photos, and of the birthday girl...but pictures and stories of Ankur could be another post some other time...
Thanks guys...loved the "satvik" format of the party....

Photos : (1) Ankur and Nikhil checking out the songs to sing from the karaoke book. Ahaan and Amit figuring out which numbers they will sing to !
(2) Your truly with chota, singing "jadoo hai nasha hai" and scoring a royal 84 marks

(3) Mamma, when will you buy me a drum set given my passion and interest?

Congrats Shikha !

I wanted to write this on 17th itself, but waited for me and Shikha to have a chat first. I needed her permission to use her son's photo on the blog....
Happy Birthday girl...and many many congratulations to you and Rajat for Sohum, who now is 2 months old ( born 20.01.2010)
You are one helluva gutsy girl everyone should take inspiration from. You have seen such ups and downs in the last decade....from loosing your mum to illness, to being the first one to get married..to settling in the US, just the two of you, to Rajat's MBA, and changing cities...for being so so brave throughout your own medical challenges, to waiting for and finally having Sohum...
You will always be the "lost world" from our college days, sincere, lovable, gentle and an emotional girl....I am telling you, 2010 is your year...Sohum is God's way of telling you that he has his eye on you and now and forever, only the best will happen for you....you deserve it...
You are always in my prayers and i wish nothing but the very best for the 3 of you...
Love always..

Re-introducing Bani Kumar

Priyanka, from sunny land California, has caught up with my posts…all together…after a long while.
She emailed saying that while she is enjoying my writing ( makes her feel I am talking to her), she is miffed with my quality of photography, particularly pictures of Bani at her welcome party .
So therefore, I am being sent across a couple of nice ones, so that everyone reading this can coo at her little princess.
These are from the welcome party ( taken by a professional photoghaper)

and these are from her just turned 9 months portfolio taken a few days ago.
Pinks, Bani is the prettiest petal around this summer, and i am more than determined to have Ranbeer to try to date her once they are all grown up !

Big bowl of cozy !

Priyanka and Kunal invited the gang to their place in Vipul Greens for lunch on Saturday, 13th March.
It was my second visit to her house, but Manish’s first.
Gagan was due to go back to the US on Sunday, and hence getting together with kids was a much desired thing. Mona couldn’t make it with Aryan (it was her parents anniversary that day, missed you girl! )
Priyanka, true to her taste, has done up the house beautifully. The girls would know what I am saying…carpets in each room, Tarini duvets, runners, lamps and candles, photos and paintings in big frames, tables neatly laid out with her best china, cutlery and napkins and all the jazz…neat, tidy, simple and cosy…very Salz …
Kunal was as usual the affable host, offering a beer here and there along with the snacks. The girls, Neha, Salz and me, were busy playing mommies, as it was Khichidi time for all the kids including Princess Zara, who by the way is Kunal’s daughter all the way with the most beautiful eyelashes and a fascination for beer !

The men were busy discussing property prices; life is US and other silly things with lotsa beer and kebabs.
Here’s Ranbeer and Daksh fooling around and happy raping all of Zara’s soft toys in her room.
Priyanka added to their merriment by playing audio Nursery Rhymes, and Ranbeer and Daksh were happy dancing next the speakers.

Finally they went about cleaning up their act (which by the way is Ranbeer’s favourite activity these days) by using Zara’s wipes to clean the TV console and the floor.
Watch my son’s dedication and concentration.

Priyanka’s paneer and chicken biryani were a big hit…and everyone agrees that the afternoon was just as it should have been….. A BIG BOWL OF COSY !
Thanks much Priyanka, Kunal and Zara……

When Shanaya came home

Finally Sumit-Rupali's little cupcake, Shanaya came home this Saturday night..She was guest of honour for whom a gourmet meal of cold pasta salad, shaami kebab, afhgani chicken and Sanjha-Chulha rolls were laid out ( WTF, she will grow up and say !) After a long time, Punkaj-Garima, Kapil( without Neelima), Vishal-Meenu ( without Aarav) got together at our place.
After Shanaya spent a couple of happy moments in Papa Chowdhary's arms, even Manish admits that he would love to have a honeybunch of a daughter like Shanaya. Garima and I have been secretly hoping Rupali will get tired managing 2 kids one of these days and put up Shanaya for adoption. We both gossip that we dont know how Rupali and Sumit manage, but they do have a cast from which very pretty girls come out :)

A few pics of that evening..

In which i am stopped in my tracks

Me went along to pick up hubz shaver from Philips repair at the MGF Plaza Mall on MG Road.
Was also wondering as to why there was so much police on the road...when i was done with my job, and stepped out, i saw that the road had virtually stopped in its tracks. A passerby mentioned that President Pratibha Patil was passing by. Infact, she had just landed behind the mall, in an open ground in her helicopter ( Indian copter version of AirForce 1 I guess) and was making way to meet a minister. Time stood still, i could notice restless policemen ( traffic ones, khakhi ones, and some special ones) on the road everywhere, vehicles stopped, pedestrian cleared off the roads, snipers on all road facing building ( including the one where we were standing) and then, came the entourage of atleast 8 cars, a Max hospital ambulance, and a fire ambulance....and no where did it seem to me that i was witnessing history ( lol, to say the least)...captured the following images on my E 71...

And while twiddling my thumbs...i captured these also on the steps of MGF Plaza mall...
Pretty in pink.....

And hot in red ( the auto is the advert for Khaaja Chowk, the street food resturant at MGF Mall)

Read tagline " Maal mein dam, daam mein kam"... WTF

When i first called out your name...

Why will i always remember 28th Feb? Becoz thats when you really called out my name....

We have been playing the game of Ranbeer identifying mamma, papa, dada, dadi, chachi , chachi for long now. When you coax him, he points out and calls for you...

Feb 14, in Jim Corbett, he called out to Manish, "papa" and asked him to pick up his toy from the floor...but "mama" never came out on its own. It was always prompted..

Feb 28, Manish and I took him to the park behind the house...i was walking 2 steps ahead of Manish, who was holding Ranbeer in his arms..

Mumma....and i turned, and he smiled...and i knew , this was not prompted, my baby did call out to me...these words swell one's heart with happiness and pride..oh what joys of motherhood..unparalleled with anything else..

Sharing one of my best pictures ever...one when Ranbeer was "shown" to me when he was born...
